Selin Gunduz
Republic of Turkey Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry Field Crops Central Research Institute
As a plant breeder at Field Crops Central Research Institute (FCCRI), I contribute to the development of improved varieties of legumes that are resilient, productive, and nutritious. I apply my skills and knowledge in molecular biology, sustainable agriculture practices, and plant-soil interaction to design and conduct experiments, analyze data, and evaluate the performance of different genotypes and phenotypes. I also collaborate with other researchers, farmers, and stakeholders to disseminate and promote the adoption of our innovations.

My passion for agriculture and development stems from my awareness of the global challenges of poverty, food insecurity, and environmental degradation. I pursued my bachelor's and master's degrees in agricultural engineering and agriculture and development, respectively, with the support of scholarships and awards from the Republic of Turkey Ministry of National Education and the University of Reading. During my studies, I gained valuable experience in teaching, training, and research, working as an intern, and a community member at various institutions and organizations. I also enhanced my quantitative and verbal skills and learned English and German as a foreign language. My goal is to continue advancing my career as a plant breeder and a lifelong learner and to make a positive impact on the agricultural sector and society.
