I specialise in researching plant breeding through the application of cutting-edge genomic technologies, particularly CRISPR-Cas9, to enhance the effectiveness of crop breeding initiatives. I have gained practical experience with various plant species including sugarcane, rice, wheat, tobacco, faba bean, tomato, petunia, N. benthamiana, and Arabidopsis thaliana, as well as wild relatives of sugarcane Erianthus spp. and Spontaneum spp.-- I am interested by unravelling the genetic makeup that influences resistance to both biotic and abiotic stress, aiming to enhance the stability and yield of plant varieties.
