The Global Bean Project is hosting a partner meeting with the title “Innovation & Changemaking” on 12 August at 5pm CEST. Professor Dr. Parvaze Sofi, Professor of Plant Breeding at SKUAST-Kashmir, will lead the meeting and present his research on developing high-yielding, climate-resilient common beans through cutting-edge breeding.
Dr. Sofi works at one of India’s leading agricultural universities, known for its nationally recognized crop improvement programmes, especially in legumes like common bean and cowpea. His research focuses on developing high-yielding, disease-resistant, and stress-tolerant bean varieties, with a particular interest in root architecture and above-ground traits linked to drought and heat stress.
