Microbiomes4Soy: Enhancing the Soya Bean Value Chain with Microbiome Innovations
The Microbiomes4Soy project investigates how microbiomes – particularly those in the soil – influence the food system from crop health and food quality to animal and human well-being.
Using soya as a model crop, the project explores how microbiomes can improve agricultural practices, reduce chemical inputs, and enhance nutritional value – both in crops and along the food chain.
A healthy soil microbiome can boost plant growth, improve yields, and reduce reliance on pesticides. This results in more nutritious crops for both humans and animals – which can in turn support the gut microbiomes of farmed fish and, ultimately, human health.
To learn more, take a look at the infographic created by Microbiomes4Soy. Using soya beans as a case study, it illustrates how microbiomes at each stage of the food system play a key role in promoting health and sustainability.
